In a strategic alliance that combines two core elements of the GOP base, the National Rifle Association and Pro-Life Movement have joined forces to support the arming of all fetuses with handguns.
Both groups are trying to exploit the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech, as well as¬†the Supreme Court’s ruling on partial-birth abortion, to mount¬†the most aggressive¬†defense yet of the unborn.
NRA President Wayne LaPierre stated that “merely forcing¬†a pregnant women to repeatedly watch her own sonogram is not a sufficient deterrent to abortion. But if a nine-week-old fetus is packing a nine millimeter handgun, that’ll¬†make her¬†think twice.”
Randall Terry, the right-to-life activist who founded Operation Rescue,¬†added that “if¬†Jane Roe’s fetus had been armed back in ’73, ole’ Jane wouldn’t have been standing, let alone had standing to make her case before the Supreme Court.”

Claiming that a pregnant woman should¬†not be the only one with a “right to carry,” both groups have also proposed to amend¬†the Second Amendment to provide:
a well-regulated womb as being necessary to the subjugation of women, the right of the fetus to keep and bear arms, particularly concealed weapons, shall not be infringed.
Democrats, reluctant¬†to take on both the gun and the right-to-life lobbies in light of next year’s¬†Presidential election, have decided not to oppose an outright ban on handguns for fetuses. Instead, they plan to introduce legislation requiring a nine-month waiting period.
