In an unprecedented case of “low-brow art imitating advertising,” there’s now a new sitcom in development based on the popular¬†Geico caveman commercials. According to confidential sources, the lead roles will be filled by George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and the the rest of their band of primitives.

Titled The Neo-Conderthals, the show will follow a patented formula for television sitcoms: taking characters out of their element, and injecting them into unfamiliar surroundings. Media critics agree that this is the perfect scenario for The Neo-Conderthals, as they find themselves unable to adapt to the conventions of civilized society.
To enhance the show’s credibility, it will¬†be set in the South, the one area of the country that’s most receptive and hospitable to these modern-day cavemen.
The Pilot script, which has been released to the press, features the¬†Neo-Conderthals not only discovering fire, but spreading it all over the world.¬† In addition, unlike their more competent cousins, who invented the wheel, these Neo-Conderthals¬†experience “the wheels coming off,” as they completely mismanage the “axis of evil.”
Another running gag on the show will be the language problems experienced by the¬†Neo-Conderthals, as exemplified by Caveman Dick’s grunts, Caveman Rummy’s¬†incoherent babbling, and Caveman Dubya’s¬†dumbfounded “Stegosaurus caught in the headlights look.”¬†
Also on the drawing board are potential spin-offs, such as “Neo-Condithal,” about a female protagonist who initially tries to civilize her brethren, but ultimately follows their war-like tendencies after she partakes of their magic mushroom clouds.
Asked if this show represented a new low in television programming, one network executive said:
“It’s so sleazy, only the¬†Neo-Conderthals could do it.”
