While Congress has just approved the construction of a 700 mile fence along the Mexican border, a new poll shows that it has little resonance among the American electorate.
Instead, in perhaps the ultimate sign of disgust with their elected representatives, voters, by a  margin of two to one, favor the erection of a barbed wire fence around the GOP-dominated Congress.
The poll, conducted by Pew Research, most appropriately, also indicated widespread opposition to any kind of amnesty for Congressional members.
The overwhelming majority of those polled felt¬†that¬†since¬†Congress wasn’t doing¬†anything in D.C. anyway, the best¬†approach is¬†to just pen them up¬†where they can¬†do the least¬†amount of damage to the Country.
The¬†poll¬†reflected¬†concern that if House and Senate members were allowed to return to¬†their districts, they might steal¬†some of the most essential¬†jobs¬†from illegal immigrants, such as harvesting America’s food, taking care of its children, and perhaps most importantly, serving sleep-deprived workers their¬†first cup of java in the morning.
Poll results also indicated grave concern that a massive infiltration of elected officials into the nation’s¬†communities would strain local resources, as Congressmen would demand subsided haircuts, travel, gym privileges and even postage.
But the number one fear expressed by most respondents was the threat of¬†increased¬†criminal activity, particularly the¬†solicitation of minors on the internet.¬† As one young woman said, “even Dateline couldn’t handle that volume.”

In light of the Mark Foley affair, perhaps we should now refer to the GOP as the “Gay Old Predators.”
And while Denny Hastert denies that he personally solicited House pages, some suspect that the Speaker may have actually eaten a few.
And more juicy tidbits from the new Woodward book: In addition to refusing her calls, Rumsfeld had the¬†IT team at the Pentagon put Condi’s emails through¬†his spam filter — just as he did with the Four Star Generals.
