In an absolutely stunning departure from their liberal orthodoxy, the stalwart progressive organizations MoveOn.Org and the ACLU have come out and endorsed an outright coup, proposing that the Bush Administration be deposed by a Military Junta.

As stated by ACLU President Nadine Strossen, “the Constitution is now out the window anyway, so what the freak’s the difference.” Ms. Strossen further elaborated: “if you’re going to be ruled by fascists, you might as well get some who know what the hell they’re doing.”

George Soros, speaking on behalf of MoveOn.Org, emphasized that the military is actually a meritocracy, as opposed to the crony-filled Bush Administration, and that although the military culture is renowned for “blindly following orders,” it is a virtual Socratic dialogue compared to the Bush Regime.

Asked if he was in any way troubled by the military’s anachronistic “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, Mr. Soros replied: “At least that affects only gays; Dubya’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ practices fucked the entire country in the behind.”

“Besides,” Soros added, “no offense to Eisenhower, but I’d rather take my chances with a military-industrial complex than the Cheney-Halliburton herpes simplex.”

This idea of a military coup d’etat was also hailed by Katrina vanden Huevel of The Nation, who stressed that Bush was also never elected. “In any event,” she added, “even if the Generals turn out to be like that bozo in Woody Allen’s Bananas, where you have to wear your underwear on the outside, it’s still better than Bush-Cheney, who try to cover up their dirty laundry.”
