The¬†passing this week of the Rev. William Sloane Coffin, Jr.,¬†the iconic “radical priest, who would get you released,” makes you¬†wonder why the dominant face of religion these days¬†is the know-nothing crypto-fascist axis of evil of¬†Pat Robertson,¬†Jerry Falwell and¬†James Dobson.¬† In other words:

How come we no longer hear about

The vaunted Christian Left

That led protests against the Vietnam War

And lent the Civil Rights Movement heft

Where are today’s Brothers Berrigan

Are they just sitting on the fence?

Or did they totally lose “consciousness”

From inhaling all the incense
